Natural Horn Study at U Iowa

For a comprehensive knowledge of the horn today, it is important to have an understanding of the natural horn and its rich history of performance and composition. The University of Horn Studio is fortunate to have four Seraphinoff Halari natural horns + crooks, plus several modern horn conversions to natural horns. Everyone has a chance to acquire experience playing natural horn during their time at UI.

Dr. Ambrose teaches Natural Horn Seminar, alternating between graduate and undergraduate levels. Students learn about natural horn technique and repertoire, and gain a knowledge of historical context and horn history.
